Driving system requirements for conveyor belts

Belt conveyor is an efficient continuous conveyor for conveying bulk materials by circulating conveyor belt. It has many types, such as general type, wavy sidewall type and so on. The driving system of belt conveyor can be divided into single-machine driving and multi-machine driving. Whether single-machine or multi-machine drive, the following requirements must be met.

1. Full load start-up.
Usually the belt conveyor needs to start at full load, especially the long-distance, large-capacity belt conveyor. The conveyor belt is often full of material. It is difficult to unload the material. Moreover, if the belt conveyor fails to stop in emergency during operation, then the restart must start at full load.

2. Delayed start-up.
In order to reduce the starting tension, belt conveyor must start slowly and delay, that is, the heat load of the motor allows a long time to start the load. Conveyor belt cost accounts for a large proportion of the total cost of belt conveyor. Therefore, prolonging start-up time and controlling start-up tension are of great significance for reducing the selection strength of conveyor belt and improving the service life of conveyor belt.

3. Start in sequence.
For multi-machine driven belt conveyor, its motor must be started one by one in order to reduce the starting current and impact, and reduce the starting tension of the conveyor belt.

4. Equilibrium load.
When a belt conveyor is running, the load of each motor is unbalanced due to the difference of motor characteristics, elastic deformation of conveyor belt and size deviation of driving drum, which is unfavorable to the normal operation of the system. Therefore, the driving load of belt conveyor must be balanced.

5. Synchronized drive.
Multi-machine driven belt conveyor, the drum speed of each driving station must be the same. Otherwise, the drum that rotates fast will bear great force, and the drum that rotates slowly will friction with the conveyor belt, consume power, form resistance and reduce the total driving power. Therefore, synchronous driving is very important.

6. Overload protection.
Driving system must have overload protection function. When the system is overloaded or malfunction, it can protect belt conveyor, especially belt, from damage.
